Earthquake of magnitude 3.8 in Wuqia County, Xinjiang

On August 21, according to the preliminary determination by the Xinjiang Seismic Network, a magnitude 3.8 earthquake occurred in Wuqia County, Kizilsu Kirke Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region at 7:19 on August 21 (Beijing time).

It has been determined that the epicenter of the earthquake is located at 40.0 degrees north latitude and 74.8 degrees east longitude. At present, no reports of casualties and property losses have been received.

Wuqia County is located at the junction of the southern foothills of the Tianshan Mountains and the Kunlun Mountain. It borders Kyrgyzstan in the northwest, where the geological structure is complex and is an earthquake-prone region.
