New Zealand intends to "big hand" to promote the transformation of LED street lights

Recently, according to foreign media reports, New Zealand Energy and Resources Minister Simon Bridges said that due to the acceleration of the financing model, urban streets will soon be equipped with LED lighting. At the Auckland Road Lighting Conference, the Minister announced a New Zealand Transportation Authority (NZTA) policy change that allowed local authorities to get funding faster to upgrade road lighting to LED lighting. Over the next three years, the New Zealand Transport Authority and local governments will be able to spend about $66 million to upgrade existing road lighting to LED lighting. Current indications indicate that an additional $39 million will be spent in three years from 2018. Due to lower energy consumption and lower maintenance costs, the total cost of LED lighting is about 20 lower than current lighting methods. It is understood that the total cost of road lighting in New Zealand is 50 million US dollars per year. If you calculate the energy consumption of 50 and the maintenance cost of 70, the LED can save 10 million US dollars per year. LED road lighting can more realistically restore object color and improve resolution, thereby improving the safety of urban roads, reducing crime and damage, and reducing light pollution. It is understood that New Zealand currently has about 370,000 street lamps, only 2 uses LED technology, and the rest are all high-pressure sodium lamps. The Auckland Transport Authority has decided to upgrade all street lights. In the next four years, 40,000 street lights will be replaced with LEDs.
